Tornado Bait Racing's 2010 Season is off to great start!
Racers Ron Mears (Expert #27) and Suzanne Mears (Amateur #31) made their mark with a record of top ten finishes including numerous podiums. The husband and wife race team has just two more CCS rounds to complete this season. In addition, Ron will race several CMRA events and serve as a track day control rider at local venues.
CCS GREAT PLAINS REGION POINTS
As of July 14, Ron holds 1st Place in Expert GTU, 1st Place in Expert Formula 40, 2nd Place in Expert Middleweight GP and 3rd Place in Expert Middleweight Superbike in the CCS Great Plains Region. He ranks 7th in Overall Regional Points. Ron is pacing to qualify for AMA licensing by year’s end.
In Overall Regional Points, Suzanne holds 2nd Place in Middleweight Femmoto and 6th Place in Amateur Lightweight Formula 40.
CCS GREAT PLAINS REGION EVENT SYNOPSIS
Heartland Park, Topeka, KS (April 24-25): For the twin sprints season opener, Ron took 1st & 2nd in Expert Formula 40 and 2nd in Expert GTU, in addition to a 4th in Expert Middleweight GP and 7th in Expert Middleweight Superbike.
In her very first race weekend, Suzanne took 3rd in both Middleweight Femmoto races, and a respectable 7th & 8th in Amateur Lightweight Formula 40.
Gateway International Raceway, St. Louis, MO (June 13): In the second CCS round for the Great Plains Region, Ron again made the podium with a 2nd in Expert Formula 40 and a 3rd in Expert GTU. He took 5th in both Expert Middleweight Superbike and Expert Middleweight GP. Suzanne moved up a step to take 2nd in Middleweight Femmoto.
Road America, Elkhart Lake, WI (July 3-4): Twin sprints gave Ron a 3rd & 4th in Expert Formula 40, a 5th & 8th in Expert Middleweight Superbike, and a 9th & 10th in Expert Middleweight GP. Suzanne took 3rd & 5th in Middleweight Femmoto, and an 8th in Amateur Lightweight Formula 40.
Heartland Park (July 11): A stellar performance from Ron with four 1st place finishes: 1st in Expert Middleweight Superbike, Expert Middleweight GP, Expert GTU and Expert Formula 40. Suzanne took 2nd in Middleweight Femmoto and just missed the podium with a 4th in Lightweight Formula 40.
CMRA EVENT SYNOPSIS
Hallett Motor Racing Circuit, Hallett, OK (May 29-30): Racing as part of Team Loose Nuts, Ron and the team took 5th in the Big Bike Endurance. He topped the weekend with a 5th in Expert Heavyweight Formula 40 (one of only two 600’s in the top ten), a 9th in Expert Superstock C, and a 15th in Expert Superbike C.
