Daytona, Here We Come!

Ron on the MCRA Challenge Series podium.
Can't believe it's already September. That means about 1.5 months until we're on the road to the CCS Race of Champions, October 14-16 at Daytona International Speedway!  Ron's getting both the CBR600RR and CBR1000RR tuned, dynoed and ready to go.  I think my role this time around will be Pit Crew Chief as the FZR600 isn't truly competitive in Lightweight Formula 40.  After all, the bike is 22 years old.  I can ride the wheels off of it at a track day, but with the usual caliber of LF40 entries, I'll be watching the rest of the grid fly by.  And they're not running Middleweight Femmoto, which is a shame.  Low grid numbers killed what once was a good thing.  Sad.

We had great time at the MCRA Challenge Series this past August at Heartland Park Topeka. Ron took 3rd in Expert GTU on Saturday and 2nd on Sunday.  I managed a 3rd in GT Lights on Saturday.  The crew from MCRA in St. Louis was great.  If you're in that area, look them up.  They have a healthy club that sponsors not only racing, but numerous track days throughout the year.  Right now they have the disadvantage of being without a home track with the closing of Gateway International, but they've managed to work out a schedule with Putnam and will hopefully be back to Heartland Park again soon.

We're also looking to add another bike to the stable for the 2012 season.  Thinking along the lines of Daytona Sportbike legal.  AMA bound, perhaps?  If everything works out, that'll be the deal.  With our youngest having been bitten by the motorcycle bug, too, we plan to be in this motorcycle game for some time to come.

Have a great Labor Day weekend, all!
